Manfredo Mejía Pérez
Manfredo Mejia Perez (born Buga, Colombia,1960) is a self-taught painter.
He is a descendant from writers on his Antioquian father´s side, and musicians, singers, and composers on his German-origin mother´s side.
Manfredo began to draw at a very early age and became interested in the internal structure of all living beings. After abandoning, the academic study of painting, he pursued investigating human anatomy on his own and in collaboration with biology professors.
He is a unique artist who has never cared about what is in fashion, the current art scene, or about criticism. He is an artist who, like artists of the Renaissance, focuses on detail and execution, including show-casing his works framed in organic materials that do not deteriorate or deform over time.
Manfredo’s craft extends to stretching and preparing his canvases to provide the most suitable pre- preparation for his works, which are in various media, including pencil, pastel, watercolor, ink, and/or oil.
His life has been a journey of learning about composition, color, and the correct technique for each of his works of art.
Manfredo is an exclusive artist who has broken with traditions and created a new way of manifesting and representing art.
